Re: YouTube Scandal This might not be something some of you want to hear about or something that may anger some of you so if you are reading this with an already decided opinion Id urge you to scroll on and look at something thats not going to anger or upset you. YouTube is a platform that means a lot to many of us here and many more beyond our group. While its natural for any community to want to rally behind one of its members or against someone or something they see as a threat, with YouTube that can become complicated. Weve all heard a lot about Youtube Star: Sam Pepper and others in the past and these allegations are having a massive effect on our community as a whole. Its seems its being forgotten that the value of YouTube is in the free expression of the individual. These so called stars are just individuals, who in most cases dont set out for fame or mass adoration or blind fandom. Isnt one of your favourite qualities about your favourite youtuber that theyre just one of us and thats how they behave? There may be unfortunate cases where YouTube is used by an individual with unsavory intentions but that should not destroy the platforms original purpose. Theres a lot being said right now about the power of successful YouTubers and while that is something they themselves need to consider, we also need to remember that they did not sign up for this power and we have a responsibility to remember that these people are only human and that most of the expectations we have of them are created by ourselves and forced onto them. But anyway, in such special cases where the platform is abused OF COURSE we have the right to be outraged. I just hoped to remind people not to allow other people to be dragged down in the frenzy it creates
