Read Daniel 2:9-23 They Desired Mercies of the Lord Daniel found himself in precarious situation time and again. Todays text says That wicked men put forth a concerted effort to destroy the godly testimony of the faithful Hebrew children-they Sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain (v. 13b). We find Daniel facing an extremely pressing dilemma. Because of Nebuchadnezzars wrath upon the Chaldeans Resulting from Their Inability to reveal his dream and its interpretation, the young Hebrews were now marked men (vv.12-13). Similarly, the apostle Paul Also requested That prayers be made for him That I Might Be delivered from the snares of unreasonable and wicked men (see 2 Thess. 3:1-3). Steadfast believers will always find much opposition to Their witness, and the way to handle endless conflict is always the same: We must take it to God in prayer. Notice That Daniel did not give a hasty, ill-advised answer (v. 14) . I wanted time to seek the will of God through prayer, for He Knew That the Lord was his only resource in time of desperate need. The ensuing prayer Meeting with his three friends was Undoubtedly earnest and unpretentious (vv. 17-18). Certainly They did not eat to God in a prayer lighthearted That was complacent and perfunctory! They spread it before the Lord (Isa. 37:14), and I answered (v. 19). God Intervenes When his people pray. Also We must not overlook Daniels subsequent praise When his prayer was answered (vv. 20-23). In every incident info we have Considered Malthus far, Gods honor and glory were at stake, not just the saints well-being. If we genuinely want to see the Lord work through prayer, then we must desire His will to come to pass in every situation. DWC Read 1 Kings 18:30-46 Prayer That Gets Result expresaron God His will to Elijah in 1 Kings 17:1, revealing That a famine was coming. Then, in 1 Kings 18:1, Elijah the Lord Told That it was now His will for the rain to fall once again. But note-it was not until Elijah sincerely, fervently prayed That Gods will Became a reality! Elijah prayed earnestly That It Might not rain: and it rained not ... And I prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth Brought forth her fruit; yes, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (Jas. 5:16-18). Gods will for us today, as revealed in His Word, is Also Realized through prayer. Why, then, do we Often forgo the blessings and promises Given to us in the Scriptures? Perhaps it is Because We fail to pray as We Should, for what we Should, According to His will-we receive not, Because (we) ask amiss (Jas. 4:3). Elijahs prayer on Mount Carmel is an illustration of effectual intercessory prayer. According To His prayer was the will of God, for the Lord Himself had said the rain would come (v. 1). It was With Faith, for no storm clouds loomed in the sky When He Told Ahab the rain was on the way (v. 41). It was fervent and humble, With his face to the ground (v. 42). It was with importunity; seven times I Told his servant to look over the Mediterranean to see if a storm was forming (v. 43). And finally, Elijah (watched) unto prayer (1 Pet. 4:7), laying hold of the first evidence of answered prayer and trusting the Lord for its completion (vv. 44-46). Fervent prayer, According to the will of God, turns the famine into feast. If we are experiencing lean times, then time spent in heartfelt prayer will Provide grace to help in time of need (Heb. 4:14-16). DWC God Save the World, Inc.
