Read this article. It is thought provoking. As a celebrity personality, I am not a huge fan of Baldwins , but I have huge respect for his talents as an actor. Back in the 1980s, after a few juicy small roles in big films (Married to the Mob, Working Girl, Great Balls of Fire, Beetlejuice) his star was rising and he was cast opposite Sean Connery in The Hunt for Red October. Overnight stardom! At that time I was a subscriber at the famed Circle Repertory Theatre and they announced that Baldwin would appear in a new romantic comedy, Prelude to a Kiss. As subscribers we were guaranteed great seats. So, I got to see Baldwin from the fourth row of this intimate off-Broadway theatre and I must say that I have never seen such a charismatic connection between an audience and an actor in my life. His character narrates the story and delivers monologues directly to the audience. Baldwin had us in the palms of his hands, and his chemistry with co-star Mary Louise Parker was electric. I pretty much ignore the tabloid stories. Baldwin was a movie star and going through a public marital breakdown, which Im sure sucks. His career seemed to falter at times, but he would always come back with moments of brilliance (Glengarry Glen Ross). Then came his appearances on SNL, which included many classic moments and sketches, followed by 30 Rock, where he created a great television character. I respect Baldwins work very much and believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt on many of these allegations. .....and perhaps some anger management.
