Read this verbiage!!!! Proponents say baiting bears with human food habituates them to human smells and lessened their instinctive fear of people. OK.. When was the last time in Maine, any bear that had been exposed to a baited site from northern, or southern Maine, entered into a local Dunkin Donuts, Aroma Joes or any bakery looking for a hand out? When was the last time you saw a bear in Maine that didnt turn tail and run at the sight of a human? Whats not being said is.... If they pass this into law, we still are going to have to KILL as many bear in Maine as we do annually now, so for all that think voting YES is to stop the hunting of bear, please educate yourself, this has nothing to do with stopping hunting, just the current effective methods used for many.many years to achieve the scientific harvest results required by the DIF&W each year to maintain a balance, between humans and bear! So when I say we will still be killing bear, it wont be sportsman doing this, it will be Paid killings of bear by the taxpayers, rather then sportsman investing and paying for licenses, permits , guides, taxidermy,lodging and butchering etc., The DIF&W will have to hire people to kill bears, using the methods these Proponents are fighting to take away bait, trapping and hounding and guess what happens to all that fur and meat! Thats right. its wasted or given to a food shelter, after the State (Which is really YOU) pay for the butchering! More likely it will be left to rot in the woods. Number one reason to vote NO is Maines economy will greatly suffer, Maines Guides and Outfitters will all have to go out of business, and the Heritage will be lost of the Maine Guide! I am asking everyone that knows me, to make sure they vote NO on this question on this Novembers ballot! Thanks you!
