Readers should form Azizul Hind Readers’ Club - TopicsExpress

Readers should form Azizul Hind Readers’ Club by-Aziz Burney The price of Azizul Hind will not be raised as long as you do not want but it should be realized why the price of newspapers is so low. Why is the newspaper that costs Rs 10-12 is available to you in Rs 2-3? What interests of the publishers of newspaper lies in it? Is there any other product in the world which is sold at such a low price? And if a newspaper is available to you in Rs 2 or 3, this 2 or 3 rupees also do not reach the publisher because one third of the price of the newspaper is claimed by the distributor who the agent of the newspaper in the town. In other words, he gets the newspaper priced at Rs 3 at Rs 2. If the newspaper is given to him at more that Rs 2, he will not be interested in your newspaper because his profits will then go down. He also has to pay the hawkers to get the newspaper fetched to your doorstep and has to save something for himself too. So, he pays Rs 1 or 2 to the owner or the publisher of the newspaper in the event hundred percent copies are sold which never happens because the agent who buys 1000 copies employs 50-60 hawkers to send the copies to various localities. So, if every hawker is left with one or two copies by the evening, more than 90 per cent of the newspaper will be rarely sold, that too, when the newspaper is very successful because even the seller of the most successful newspaper wants to save a copy of the newspaper by the evening. In other words, in any case, not more than 80 paise or Rs 1.80 reaches the owner through the agent. Above it, the expenses for transporting the newspaper to your town is about Re 1 per copy. Those who sell the newspaper at Rs 2 after deducting this amount virtually sell the newspaper free of cost apart from bearing the loss of 10-20 paise per copy. If the newspaper is priced at Rs 3, then 80 or 90 paise can reach the owner or publisher of the newspaper whereas the total cost of the newspaper is Rs 10 or 12. In this way, he incurs a loss of Rs 10 per copy. This loss can be compensated in two ways. One, through advertisements and, two, if the newspaper is the mouth piece of a capitalist or a political party, the party or the capitalist will pay the deficit amount. This norm has been established very cleverly so that no one can dare to publish a newspaper easily. In other words, this is the easiest way to enslave the pen by selling the newspaper at such a low price that the readers get accustomed to it and do not want to buy it at a higher price because he can get other newspapers at a low price. This is the reason, governments, political parties and industrial houses run their own newspapers or patronize newspapers. If business houses patronize a newspaper and bear the losses they do it with the purpose that whenever the pressure of the media is needed to benefit or save their business from losses it can come to their rescue. This is the reason, newspapers support their favourite political parties or business houses that bear their losses. They are the mouth piece of one or the other political party. Now, the newspapers have to publish the news to the liking of the readers. There are more or less 250-300 news in a newspaper of 12-16 pages. If even 200 news are included keeping in view the likes of the readers, there are still 40-50 news that can be included to mislead or brainwash the readers. And all this is done so that the media can be controlled by particular political parties, industrialists and organizations and they can use the media to increase their capital, to gain power or to prevent particular political parties from coming to power. An independent media house of the Muslims could not come into existence on the national level after independence because there was the question from where the people having the spirit to speak for the community by selling their newspaper at Rs 1 will get the money. As for donations and advertisements, the donors or advertisers are influential people, they also see if the newspaper will help them with political favours. However, if a common man gives an ad or small help for the sake of the community, he has no personal interests in mind. I know this is a difficult task but still I want to prepare the readers mentally to buy the newspaper at the cost price. They should do this sooner or later. Obviously, paying more all of a sudden will appear to them a matter of loss but if you succeed in making the newspaper self-dpendent, it will succeed in espousing the cause of the community as it will not be under any pressure. It will neither need to seek the help of anybody nor will it have to fear of becoming anyone’s stooge. I wanted to train you mentally and bring your purchasing power to that level gradually so that your mouthpiece does not remain dependent on anyone. I had the view in mind, though, that the price should not be raised for the teachers and students of madrasas. They should be provided discount coupons. But if the number of people who do not want a price rise is large, then the raise in cover price can be postponed but you have to think: for how long? If half of the internet readers numbering 5 lakh spread over 97 countries and 633 cities make up their mind to pay even Re 1, it will be easy for us to sell the newspaper even at below Rs 3. The help of the big capitalists does not come without any motive but if a common man joins the movement, even if he does not read or buy the newspaper, believe me, a revolution will take place. I had opened a front against communal forces led by Modi and the RSS and was continuously exposing them but after the statement linking Muzaffar Nagar victims to the ISI, I had to write against Rahul as well. I did not spare Ajit Singh or the UP government over the UP riots. I was able to do this because I was not dependent on anyone. I am not bothered by who will be hurt by my writing and only write what is needed to ensure justice to this victimized community. And this is what I have been doing and will be doing in future. This newspaper will run with same attitude and policy as long as I can run this newspaper and God knows if this period will be of 11 days or 100 years. Despite not raising the price, I would like to say that you have to sit together and think over the fact that if something is being made available to you below its cost of production, then there must be some motive or purpose behind it due to which he bears the loss happily and provides it to you at a lower price. The daily Azizul Hind which is in your hands is hopefully dear to you. The popularity and acceptance it has got from you and the success it has achieved in such a short period of time on both national and international level was beyond my expectations and imagination. I am presenting a brief glimpse of the readership of our internet edition on the next page and would like to say that today’s daily Azizul Hind is not the newspaper of my dreams and imagination. It is only a small beginning and very soon I want to take it to the height where it will prove to be a new milestone in Urdu journalism. I am continuously working on this project with my research team. When I had launched Bazm-e-Sahara, it was not inferior to any magazine in the world. The concept of Azizul Hind that I have in mind will be at par with any newspaper in the world. I hope I will be successful in this endeavor with your support and co-operation. Today I would like to make one thing clear. Sometimes you might think that often news that are considered important do not figure in my newspaper. I do not generally publish what Modi says. I do not pay much attention to the statements of the admirers and detractors of Modi but if a religious leader makes a statement, I proudly give it space on the front page of my newspaper. I wanted to give the Muslims of India such a newspaper for the first time on the national level which could give prominence to the problems or issues of Muslims. To me the news that were ignored by others till now, are important. Which leader said what and what programme a leader organized to make headlines is not important to me. The article became too long but the issue is still incomplete. So, I apologize to my readers because I had promised to write on why the government was harassing Sahara Group but the negative and positive messages on the proposed raise in the cover price of Azizul Hind were so many that I had to write on it today. The newspaper was already being sold at Rs 5 in Baghpat, Amroha and other places. I am not raising the price at the moment but bringing down its print order. Therefore I request you all that the number of readers should not come down with the reduction in the number of copies of the newspaper and readers should make it a habit to share the newspaper in the same way the system of pool card was introduced to save petrol. Similarly, less copies of the newspaper should be bought and more people should read it. For this purpose they should form Azizul Hind Readers’ Club so that the number of readers may increase and our loss is minimized. azizulhind epaper.azizulhind/
