Reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Somali-American(X-Dutch) - TopicsExpress

Reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Somali-American(X-Dutch) writer, I am extremely interested in the issues she has raised and the arguments she has presented. Specifically she writes about the relationship b/n women and religion, marriage and other sociopolitical matters. She also writes her stay in Shagar (Addis), Ethiopia. It is really an awesome book to read. The book is also forwarded by Christopher Hitchens. Here is an interesting excerpt, inter alia, from the book: “The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more.”
