Reading this reminded me of how many times I kept failing when I was trying to play those Carnatic gamakas on the guitar as a 12 year old on my hard to play $2 acoustic guitar! A decade later when I was in Berklee, I felt the same when I kept failing again and again trying to fit my Carnatic raga and gamaka ideas over Jazz harmony and chord changes which must have sounded so amusing!
