‘Realistically, there is only one place up for grabs when Vinny - TopicsExpress

‘Realistically, there is only one place up for grabs when Vinny (Kompany) is fit. There are three of us for fighting for that but I am ready for the challenge.’ Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror continue to link the Blues with a move for Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos. John Cross writes: “Chelsea and Manchester City have been put on red alert after Sergio Ramos had a major fall-out at Real Madrid. “Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was caught on TV criticising Ramos for being sent off against Galatasaray. The Spanish defender was already annoyed that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez refused to give him a bumper new contract after the arrival of Gareth Bale. It has left Ramos’s future uncertain and there will be no shortage of takers, particularly from the Premier League. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had a turbulent time at Real Madrid alongside Ramos but wants a top quality defender. City manager Manuel Pellegrini also wants defensive reinforcements and would be keen on Ramos.” Lastly, the wonderfully-named Ignatius J Reilly, writing on Sports Direct News’ website plucks a story from nowhere it seems – though it is one most Blues will enjoy reading because it involves former crowd favourite Nigel de Jong. Writes Reilly: “However, with many close friends still on the books at City and an excellent relationship with the supporters, Nigel de Jong is on the radar with Manuel Pellegrinis side desperately short of options in central midfield. “A source said: ‘Nigel was massively influential in the dressing room and was a big loss in that respect. Many of his friends remain at the club and they would be delighted to see him back home come January.’” moheb
