Really good essay against national/istic definitions and understandings of contemporary culture. Cites an awesome study done by the Tate Modern that showed that the pandering to "ethnic/immigrant" communities that has been done in the past 20 years under the guise of "multiculturalism" has been of interest to no one--least of all to the ethnic/immigrant communities at whom such programs were targeted. This is not as dense as you might think, it is a good read, but the quotes I got from the panel discussion the author participated in are even better. Look for those as part of a big article on nationalism at the Venice Biennale in the coming days. Might be of particular interest to Sehba Sarwar and Mark Lacy, as you both aim for that same audience, I think.
