Reason to be proud. There is every reason for Forrest High Alumni to be proud of their Alma Mater. Every reason to be proud of the extraordinary teachers and staff who dedicated part of their lives to improve the students that attended classes, walked the halls, and struggled for success on the sports fields of Forrest High. There is every reason to be proud of a school whose Alumni became Generals in the military, doctors, deputies, judges, teachers, owners of successful enterprises, but also for the most part became honest, hard working, tax paying citizens. So for all the Forrest High Alumni.... it is meaningful and with good reason to hold your heads high for being Forrest High Alumni. With that in mind, let it also be said, I am angry about the name change of Forrest High. I am angry about the lies and deceit employed by Superintendent Vitti to achieve the name change. I am angry that the activists and demonstrators who pushed for the name change didnt donate all of the $500,000 dollar costs. I am angry that the school board didnt flinch at the Superintendents announcement to use tax dollars to fund the name change. I am angry that the City of Jacksonvilles Mayors office intervened to openly advocate for the name change. I am angry that the Alma Mater of 30,.000 Forrest Alumni, including myself, has been erased for racially hypersensitive motivations. I am angry that the 2013 school board has chosen to ignore the 55 year history, achievements, and Alumni of Forrest High, and disrespected the Forrest Alumni so openly. ......... There is one over arching comfort.... ILL GET OVER IT, as will all the Forrest High Alumni. However, for this point in time, I have the intent to tell all who will listen to the truth, that removing the Forrest High name was wrongfully done, and done by, Vitti, the WORST superintendent in 55 years, or ever.
