Recently, Annika has been exhibiting certain changes that could only be early signs of that terrible four stage that she will be fully immersed in two months from now. After being shouted at by her in public because of my refusal to buy her Sofia the mermaid, I found myself asking hubby what am doing wrong, and if I should blame myself for the way that Annika has been behaving, and the note below shows his response to my query. Today being Mothers Day, I am reminded once again of the fact that motherhood is not an easy task. The moment you give birth, everything stops being about you, and only about that little person that you have promised to love, nurture and protect until the ends of the earth. When that little person starts to assert her own independence, an inner struggle occurs within the mother as she tries to strike a balance between letting that little person make her own mistakes so that she can find her place in this world, and shielding her from all of lifes pain and disappointment... and sometimes that line is not so easily drawn. Yet we forge on and hope for the best. There may be no perfect formula to being a perfect mother, but certainly, if we are guided by love, things might just turn out well in the end. Thank you hubby for the wonderful gift - but more than the flowers, thank you for being my pillar of strength, and for always reminding me that when it comes to raising this beautiful little girl, were doing just fine.
