Recently I had a lesson as how to use a catch up bottle. On Sept 5th. ,before attending my 55th.LP HS class reunions Fri night get together, my wife Linda and I stopped at a quaint family tavern in the little town we lived in, when we were first married, to eat. The waitress, who was a tall, thin, nice looking blond in her mid 20s, came across with a rather firm attitude. Ordering was like a speed in deciding contest. This place has quite a menu, but I was not given time to review much of it. So I asked if it was fish night and ordered that. Linda ordered a hamburger. When my fish and fries came. I took the top off the fat ,upside-down, snap cap type, Hunts ketchup bottle and poured a generous dollop of the red tasty goo near my fries. I love fries with catch up. I like to dip one end in the goody red pile, and eat one at a time. After pouring the red pile. I then put the cap back on the bottle. Apparently the waitress had seen me use the catch up. She came over and showed me how to use the flip cap without the need to remove the cap. Told me it was easier to use that way?? She even demonstrated and explained as if I was a 3 year old. Then set the bottle back down and walked away. My wife and I were astounded. How rude! I heard Linda whisper. Did that young woman really think I did not know how to use a damn flip cap catch up bottle? I was speechless. That gal is definitely a Dale Carnegie prospect. I pity her husband or sole mate. If she even has one. I was raised in the food business. My folks would have dialed that young lady in. And Linda who taught Home Economics for 4 decades (and still is- at Putnam Co. This semester) does not teach the customer relations part that way. It was not cool. It was rude. Even if I did not know. Which of course I did. I hate those flip tops even more now! LOL!
