Recently I offered some Poets a chance to be on a mixx I was working on. To my surprise already some are bringing whatever personal past hangups to the post and dont even want to be a part of the actual message. I believe at this point Im done. Some may not appreciate my work, some may not even care about the craft itself. But growing and moving on to be a better individual is a personal thing that everyone should attempt to do with time. Egos and drama has defiantly left a sour taste in my mouth with certain people in the spoken word network. But I have also made some good friends as well who share a mutual respect for me & what I do as a Producer and Artist. Some seen a moment to get beats 4 cheap. Some seen a moment to (try) to take advantage of the moment in hand. Some took kindness for weakness. But some were actually true to who they say they were. On a final note I would just like to say that allot of the spoken word artists disappointed me in the end because the work, or words that were spoken on stage were actually just that. (Words For the stage) Which is no different to a gimmick rapper, or character in a film. Being humble is a blessing that some have learned to practice in order to grow as an artist & a human being. But some allow the applause or momentary attention of a fanbase to fuel a negative selfish attitude that is ego driven & distasteful to others. Im thankful for the lessons overall. Im happy with my evolution as a human, producer & artist. I can look in the mirror and say I treated everyone with genuine respect. That is called Class & Integrity! My name is J.
