Recently I read a Buddhist teaching about forgiving someone, and the teacher advised his student to chant for that other persons happiness every day as a way to resolve his feelings of anger. I have to admit that a few years ago, I might not have seen how this might bring resolution to the conflict. That said, it is true that when you hold on to anger, the only person you undermine is yourself...In fact, there is a quote that is attributed to the Buddha, Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. So if one assumes that the inverse is true, then the teaching makes complete sense. Still its not an easy task.
