Recently I was reflecting back, trying to recall just what it was that first attracted me to these teachings nearly 20 years ago. Id finished up a few years of therapy after the psychologist urged me to. He thought I really didnt need more sessions with him. But I had this feeling there had to be something more. I remember thinking Is that all?. Feeling a restlessness and a then-unnameable longing. Along came the person who became my first dharma teacher. I didnt clearly know it at the time but somehow intuited that the something more was beginning to take shape. There was no big aha! moment, just a growing certainty over time that these teachings would profoundly benefit others, the planet, and me. I wanted to be of service. This is the best way there is.
