Recently come to light these are some of the earliest recordings of The Rod Garfield Blues Band from the late 1980s. Here is another recording made at The Hamster which sees the then newly created band in excellent form. Iain MacDougall from the band recently confirmed with me that we both think this recording to be about 1987. The band was formed that year and this recording is probably at the beginning of their regular spot at The Hamster. They continued to play there regularly for seven or so years before the band finished in this form in 1996 and Rod emigrated to Australia. Ive always loved this track done by these guys because of the interplay between them towards the songs ending, as Rod and Iain battle it out for solo supremacy, and in fact there is another version further back on my YT channel of Birmingham which I recorded in 1991. This also has an excellent bit of musical banter between these two musicians. The recording is a bit rough around the edges like the other 1987 recordings I have put online, but theyre not too bad considering they were recorded onto cassette tape and have lived in a box in Iains basement for over twenty years. I hope you enjoy - its great to finally give this band the wider recognition it deserved. Also please check out my videos from the recent Rod Garfield Blues Band Reunion Tour 2014 recently uploaded.
