The entire episode was shot in two days (September 20 and 21, 1961) with the giants scenes on the third day and the conclusion originally featured Peter Craig running, tripping over the ruined head of the statue, a giant shadow crosses over him, looks up and screams. Then he is picked up by the giants. After a rough cut was viewed, it was decided that the ending would have to be refilmed so on February 13, 1962, on Stage 24 at MGM, actors Don Rhodes and Michael Ford were asked to return in the role of the giant spacemen. Only Ford was available for filming so Robert Eaton took the place of Don Rhodes. The retakes were shot and the footage of Craig running and tripping was removed.
