Red Tailed Hawk- Is a Large hawk generally weighing on average between 2 - 4 lbs. Their wing span ranges between 45 and 52 inches. These hawks like to nest in high trees at the edge of a clearing usually 35 to 75 feet above the ground. The Red Tailed Hawk may build up to 3 nests before settling on one. Sorry for the quality of photos. Pictures were taken at the full limit of my camera. Picture 1 Red Tailed Hawk, Picture the tree holding hawk and both nests for perspective.
