Redskins: As Innocent As A Cowboys and Indians Game? By Sweetheart&Stuart Mason June 23, 2014 10:00 am Print 303 Views 0 Comments In this anal society in which we live, sports have become center stage for sensitive followers. The Washington Redskins have a tradition in the NFL and a great rivalry with those Dallas Cowboys. Is it about cowboys and indians, or do people want to cause unnecessary controversy? As the Washington Redskins trademark is taken away, all NFL teams except the Dallas Cowboys will lose money. I guess this means I can sale Robert Griffin III jerseys without any trademark fines. Wow!! If the NFL moves foward to take the Redskins name permanently, this could escalate a forest fire of future boycotts and controversy in sports. The Irish American community might not like the sound of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Dallas Cowboys represent those who hurt American Indians. Im ready for the day that an organization goes after the Florida State Seminoles because of the heritage of people in north Florida. Much of the population in North Florida have some type of American Indian blood in them. My wife, Sweetheart, was born and has generations of family in North Florida. She is part Cherokee Indian and doesnt have an issue with the Redskins name. Who knows? Auburns War Eagle, the Georgia Bulldogs UGA, or the Texas Longhorns Bevo all could have protests by animal rights groups. All of the following teams could be questioned: The Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, and Kansas City Cheifs, but couldnt everything in this world be questioned? If weve become this sensitive as a society, then I feel sorry for future generations. I call this Generation S which means generation soft. A Great Point: What is the difference between the skin tone of American Indians being displayed and the team name of the University of North Carolina? Tar Heels is for the turpentine from the pine forests and the way Confederate troops stuck to their ranks during the Civil War. Tar Heels was also a nickname of a group that treated blacks bad after the war. This was revealed by an African-American South Carolina representative in 1875. Sweethearts Stuff, I might not take offense to the Redskins name, but there are a lot of things that are unfair to me! Why cant I order off the kids menu? What gives someone else the right to determine that Im too old for chocolate milk and apple slices? I can afford to pay full price for my meal but Granny gets a discount? Im forced to walk further because theres no Moms Only parking spaces (really needed when I was pregnant). I take offense to being pulled over for swerving, at night, maybe drinking, and its a federal offense. (did I mention it was dark) Old people do it all the time, in broad daylight, we curse, and drive around the boat. I take offense to there not being a 25-27 items lane. I dont like that the handicap stall is the nicest in the bathroom. Its not fair that the chips are displayed near the soda and not the beer aisle. A few other things: Kids get play dates, parents dont. ESPN has like 9 channels, Lifetime has 2 Mothers Day/Fathers Day. We gave birth. We get more days. Stuart stuff is first because...Hes a Man! Later, Sweetheart
