Redwoods Strategic strokes of sunlight Punching through the morning Haze Each dotting, with a purposeful Randomness A tree And each a great tree Large and full Green and lush And old Older than the streams They cosset Streams that wind through Hills, round and rolling Covering the horizon With undulations meant to bewilder reaching clouds White and airy Bunched in packs Like schoolchildren At recess Children with smiles And hopeful hearts And dreams, Dreams that life continues Past the sunlight That touches the redwoods PJB
