Referee Dilioni gets her big break Zanzeer Singh Saturday, February 01, 2014 SUVAS Lonisa Dilioni is set to become Fijis second female match official to officiate at the Oceania level. Dilioni has been selected with FIFA badge holder Finau Vulivuli to officiate at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Womens Under-20 Championship in New Zealand this month. The 24-year-old took up refereeing in 2010 and made her debut as a referees assistant in the Suva Football Association local league competition. The former Saint Bedes College student represented Fiji in the OFC U20 qualifiers in 2006. She was introduced to refereeing by Vulivuli. Fiji Football Association referees director Paresh Kishore said Dilioni deserved the call up after excelling last season. Kishore said officiating in the regional tournament would be a step up for Dilioni. She has been refereeing for some time, he said. Lonisa was one of the standouts last year and that is why she has been given the opportunity to officiate at the Oceania level. It is always good to see our match officials being recognised. Kishore will be one of the referees assessors in the tournament which will be played at Centre Park in Mangere, Auckland from February 18 to February 22. Vulivuli is on the referees panel with Anna-Marie Keighley (New Zealand), Uinifareti Aliva (American Samoa), Tupou Patia (Cook Islands) and Robinson Banga (Vanuatu). Dilioni is on the assistant referees panel with Nagarita Jimmy (Solomon Islands), Lata Kaumatule (Tonga), Jacqui Stephenson (New Zealand), Maria Salamasina (Samoa) and Wanting Yagum (Papua New Guinea). Tonga, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Vanuatu will participate in the tournament. Fiji pulled out last year after the dates for the tournament were rescheduled.
