Reflect for a moment on the fruits and flowers - the most colorful and fragrant parts of the plant world. These beautiful creations are made to be colorful and fragrant in order to encourage animals like birds and mammals to come and sup from the flower nectar and delicious fruits. In this way the plant kingdom constantly shares the rich bounty of the sun, rain, air and soil with their brothers and sisters in the animal kingdom. Fruits, seeds, nuts and leaves (which the trees produce in abundance) are natural sustenance for arboreal primates, from which humans evolved. And everything in nature teaches us a corresponding lesson for the spiritual life. The human being, when he or she is healthy and fully mature, produces kindness, love, compassion, wisdom, courage, and beauty as the expression of the fullness of growth. The beautiful, profound, inspired creative work of great souls is the fruit of human culture, and is the natural sustenance for the soul within each human to help it awaken and grow to maturity.
