Reflecting: I used to be devastated after a democratic loss. That - TopicsExpress

Reflecting: I used to be devastated after a democratic loss. That somehow that turn over of an office would solve all of the issues, ones I still fear. Yes, Mary Burke winning would have stopped some disastrous events that now lay in front of us, but... We have work to do. That work never began and ended in a single vote. I am not done and never will be. I understand that we have more power than that. We always did. How do we use that power to engage in politics and community so that we are ever present and heard? My criticism of recent events is that we, the democratic (and independent) party, arent organized. We cant send politicians in at the last min to build relationships just during campaign time. We need conversations and relationship building throughout the years. Another issue, national identity and values has been allowed to be high jacked, people arent being heard, we are lost to someone elses narrative of OUR PERSONAL vision of state and nationhood, and of family and home. We have lost sight of our neighbors, somehow made an enemy or relationships with contention when it comes to what we value as a nation. This makes no sense to me. Moving forward I will move to practice more appreciative inquiry to hear and learn others narratives and values. Not to bring anyone to my side rather to love my neighbor as I do my sense of community and community responsibility. My morning thoughts...
