Reflecting on today.............. Ash Wednesday. A reminder to man - TopicsExpress

Reflecting on today.............. Ash Wednesday. A reminder to man of his original and natural form, dust. Today it is been laid bare to man irrespective of socioeconomic, political or religious status a fact which is truth in its entirety; from dust we were all formed, dust we are and dust we will always be. Then think; what is the essence of our existence? Why do we live and for what do we live? Brethren, make out time to reflect in your work place or home on those questions. Try to access the life you have lived and see if its worthy of the life of dust(same dust on which we stand, play, and mess up). Arent we expected to be as humble as the dust we stand on? Forty days of fasting and prayer/reflection we begin today... What is expected of us during these days and after? Humility should be our garment so as to have the sight we need to look into the lives we have led in other to make appropriate amends where required and walk with Christ in suffering and agony to that cross on Calvary so as to share the joys from the victory of His resurrection with Him in the company of His saints(including my dad) and angels. Brethren, who are you or what status do you portray in your society, your country, your home or village? You are dust and there is nothing you can do about it. The best hospitals in India cannot undo this garment for you. This truth makes us equal in the eyes of nature. Lemme ask you brethren, where lies the source of your pride? Property, beauty, wealth, fame? Dust you are. Live with that reflection. Act with that in mind. Presidents of our countries...dust you are. Our dear governors, ministers, senators, house members, you are dust. My beloved Pope, bishops, priests, pastors, evangelists, you are dust. I am dust too. We are same. No exemptions. Today I have decided to follow Jesus, the great man of Calvary. To share in His passion not only durin this season of lent but all the days of my life. Are you ready to follow Him, reflect and share. Separate yourself from all that makes you see yourself better than the one next to you. Tear your garment of pride and wear that of humility because vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. As we reflect and humble ourselves before Him, may He give us the grace to stay on those parts which He walked in suffering to the cross of Calvary helping us to overcome temptations which must come and strengthen us for the task ahead as rough as it may be. This Lenten season let us smile in suffering with Christ because of the hope we have in His resurrection and the life of the world to come. May God bless us all and meet us at the points of our most pressing needs this season and always. Amen.
