Reflections from US boys in China: "Lijiang was known for its trade connection with the Silk Road and was a hub for farmers to harvest natural tea resources in exchange for horses from Tibet and Mongolia. Lijiang is known for its caravan trading, diversity of minorities, and its paradise-like location. In Lijiang, the women were the masters of the house while men traded on caravan voyages fending off from bandits and looters. Walking down the streets, we could immediately see the folk-like spirit of the villages: Peaceful, cool, and warm-hearted." -Nick Meyerson
