#RefugeeRealitiesKE via @NdunguWainaina: There is no denial that terrorism threats and attacks have been sporadic in Kenya. However, the current whole knee jerk reaction to the terrorism is more than what people think. It has both internal politics and rebooting certain foreign relations. Facts are hard to dispel. Because of fear and emotions attached to it, Jubilee regime thinks that ‘war on terror’ offer political opportunity to win public. Jubilee administration has recorded zero progress in tackling high-level official graft, improving basic livelihoods of the Kenyans, and transforming crucial institutions such as police. Jubilee administration is experiencing significant internal latent tensions. This ‘war on terror’ is more about sugarcoated attempts to rally skeptical Kenyans behind an administration in tatters and feeling hard pressed to explain its policy achievements. It is also about opening space for ferocious attack on human rights and the hard-won constitutional guarantees in the nascent Constitution of Kenya 2010. Unfortunately, Kenya media has bought the lie and doing public relations for the state rather than asking the hard questions.
