But today I must share with everyone the heartache I experienced today as a Gov. Pat Quinn volunteer. I have worked campaigns from Jane Byrne to date with a feeling of satisfaction that I did my part as an American citizen. I am disheartened when I make a call to ask for support for Quinn and I am told that they are not voting or they are undecided, or how much does it pay, this is expected. However, today with just three volunteers working we were asked to call ministers who said they would support Governor Quinn in the past, I was sickened. They said yes they would support Pat Quinn if they got paid, like Rauner paid the other ministers. Yes times are hard but, who can put a price tag on moral conviction? I say its priceless. Yes we three or four volunteers with no money to offer were devastated. How can an honest man win? Well meeting President Obama Monday in the campaign office on the south side reminded me that there is a way. An old girl like me coming up in the sixties never imagined the day I would meet with the President Obama, the first lady Michelle, Governor Quinn, and Senators Dick Durbin, and Bobby Rush (the reason my grandson is in the Navy Academy). It wasnt to long ago the doors closed on a lot of employees. Thats outsourcing, something Rauner majors in by the way. Or have they been paid off like the ministers for their endorsements. Yes, I am for Pat Quinn, I am a black senior woman, but knowing what I know, coming from where I came from; I know whatever you do, for just vote for heavens sake.
