Religion doesnt divide, but enriches human life, and unites people across all cultures and times in the infinite diversity of the quest for intimacy with GOD. The only problem occurs when a few religious cults teach that their particular belief system is the only way and that that those who dont agree deserve to be tortured, enslaved, coerced, exploited, slaughtered, etc. These cults are not really religious any more, but aggressive political cults. Religion consists of all activities which humans undertake in their sincere experiential quest for God. All cultures practise religion, and always will, because the yearning to answer existential questions is fundamental to human nature. Because the Roman political culture subsumed Christianity and employed it to further political objectives doesnt invalidate the infinite diversity of religious thought, activity, social undertakings, and experience. Today, there are 35,000 different Christian churches alone, and countless other groupings of people exploring spirituality in a wide diversity of manners
