Religion gives people who believe in them an excuse to act like assholes, completely disregarding the mysticism underlying their belief system. Religion, in fact, has very little to do with the realization of what makes this whole Universe tick. Imagine driving to New York, seeing a sign on the freeway that says New York and pointing to a lane. You dont park your car underneath the sign and declare, Here I am in New York!, I thought it would be different, bigger, more illustrious, what gives!? In a similar fashion, all religious texts are sign pointers, so to speak. They point the way. They are not The Way. A famous saint once said that God is the breath behind the breath. If you feel threatened in any way, that is not my intention, but if something relatively benign so easily threatens your belief system, perhaps you should question your belief system. I have no doubt in your faith, for i have faith the sun will rise tomorrow. Its almost a practical thing, this faith. Nuff said and just a thought...
