Religion really boggles my mind. Its supposed to be about love and compassion and all those good things that should bring people together and make the world a better place. But really people get so wound up by their own beliefs that it ends up seperating people and causing conflict instead. Everyone is so sure that their particular beliefs are the only right way to believe and - I realize it is out of concern for others, but still - feel that they have to spread their truth to everyone else. Yet everyone else has their own truth that they feel the first person should believe. And sadly, most of that belief is predetermined simply by what culture, era, country, family you were born into. Had you been born in Africa or China or the Middle East, you would likely have a completely different world view and belief system. Dont get me wrong, I genuinely respect and admire those with strong religious convictions. There have been many, many times where I wish I had the same unfaltering belief in something. But I cant help but see the bigger picture, in which there are billions of people and billions of beliefs and if you strip away everything else, it all just comes down to love. Love each other, love yourself, love your faith. And respect....yourself, each other, each others belief systems. Learn to see what brings you together rather than what tears you apart. I cant help but see belief systems like colors in a rainbow -- you believe so strongly that Red is beauty and truth...And it is! But so is Orange, and Yellow, and on and on. And if you can suspend your judgement for just a few moments, you can see the beauty of the whole rainbow, and all of God (or the Universe or Divine Power or whatever wording resonates with you)s creations.
