Remei and I enjoy planning fairly low-budget trips around Europe. Weve traveled fairly extensively in Spain and France and England and Holland. Ive been to Italy but she hasnt. As I said, for Christmas we are taking the train to Cordoba and Sevilla, which is the only important part of Spain except Galicia where we have never been. We are sort of planning to drive Rocinante the Kia Clarus up to Toulouse and Bordeaux sometime next year, where we have never been. Weve been all over the rest of Southern France, Nimes and Avignon and Carcassonne and the like. I would really like to get some friends together and rent a canal boat; you can navigate on your own through the French canal system. Its not a lot of money if you have six or eight people. The next longish trip were going to take is up to Southwest Germany, Baden and Wurttemberg, the área around the Black Forest. My German ancestors originally came from there, and we know which villages they lived in, to the east of Stuttgart. That would be a nice drive through France and not a very long way, and these are the only ancestors whose European origin we know. The rest of them just showed up in America sometime and we dont really know where they came from; based on the surnames, Great Britain and Ireland, and thats all we know.
