Remember how controversial it was when Steve Angello got caught - TopicsExpress

Remember how controversial it was when Steve Angello got caught using a pre-recorded set while fake mixing? Fast forward 2 or 3 very short years to the present, and the very thing that Steve Angello received so much back-lash for, which got so bad that he actually had to issue a press release to defend himself, has suddenly become acceptable and common-place on the modern dance music stage, as fans and promoters alike are turning a blind eye to DJs faking it with pre-recorded sets. When did pressing play on a pre-recorded Ableton Live set, while flailing your arms around for 2 hours, and randomly twisting knobs just to pretend like theyre actually doing something, suddenly become acceptable? I mean, isnt it awkward for them? Dont these fakers feel embarrassed? Or even bored while theyre up there doing absolutely nothing? Im not implying that everyone ought to go back to Vinyl like our modern deep house scene has been lately -- which I personally love, but certainly not my ultimate point. Im all for the advancement of technology in DJing, but I mean come on.. how hard is it to use a flash drive, or Serato, or shit, at this point, even using the damn sync button on Traktor would be a step up from popping in a mixtape and pressing play. The point is, if youre up there on stage, perform... DO SOMETHING. Were glad you make great music in the studio, thats why were here to see you perform. Just stop faking it. Because, at the end of the day, the real winner in all of this has got to be Milli Vanilli.
