Remember the story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. Have you ever considered the spiritual truths in that story? Yes…there are spiritual truths when you look at it. The three little pigs were three brothers. Two of them compromised and built their houses with faulty materials – straw and sticks – and when the wolf came he blew their houses down. The third brother built his house of strong solid materials. He didn’t compromise and was safe from the wolf who = try as he might - could not blow the house down. The wolf is the devil and the houses are faith. Our faith should be built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and on His Living Word. If we compromise our faith the devil can rattle and shake our security to pieces leaving us exposed to the storms of life that threaten to consume us. But strong uncompromising faith based in the Word of God cannot be shaken, and those who take shelter in it can rest secure that the devil cannot touch them. So how do we build strong faith? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17) Studying and meditating on God’s Word gives us a strong foundation on which we can stand in Jesus Christ our Lord. When the storms of life come, a man of uncompromising faith can stand secure. When the storms come we can be assured that the One who can calm the storm with a word holds us in His loving care.
