Remember when GLV 8 was the only commercial TV station in Gippsland? And before it changed to channel 8 it was GLV 10. The station changed from channel 10 to 8 in January 1980 to allow ATV 0 in Melbourne to move to the channel 10 frequency. GLV 10, based in Traralgon, was the first regional television station to launch in Australia, on 9 December 1961. It later joined with channel 8 stations in Bendigo and Mildura as TV8. Aggregation of the commercial networks took place between 1992 and 1993 to allow country viewers more choice.
