† Remembering - JAN 3: ***1967 – Jack Ruby, American murderer (b. 1911) Jack Leon Ruby (born Jacob Leon Rubenstein; March 25, 1911 – January 3, 1967) was a nightclub operator in Dallas, Texas. On November 24, 1963, Ruby fatally shot Lee Harvey Oswald, who was in police custody after being charged with the murder of John F. Kennedy two days earlier. A Dallas jury found Ruby guilty of murdering Oswald, and Ruby was sentenced to death. Later, Ruby appealed his conviction and was granted a new trial. As the date for his new trial was being set, Ruby became ill and died of a pulmonary embolism due to lung cancer. O:) ***1979 – Conrad Hilton, American businessman, founded the Hilton Hotels & Resorts (b. 1887) Conrad Nicholson Hilton (December 25, 1887 – January 3, 1979) was an American hotelier and the founder of the Hilton Hotels chain. In 1979, Hilton died of natural causes at the age of 91. O:) ***2012 – Bob Weston, English guitarist and songwriter (Fleetwood Mac) (b. 1947) Robert Joseph Bob Weston (1 November 1947 – 3 January 2012) was a British musician best known for his brief role as guitarist and songwriter with the rock band Fleetwood Mac. Weston was found dead on 3 January 2012. His post-mortem showed he died of a gastrointestinal haemorrhage. O:) ***2014 – Phil Everly, American singer and guitarist (The Everly Brothers) (b. 1939) The Everly Brothers were American country-influenced rock and roll singers, known for steel-string guitar and close harmony singing. Isaac Donald Don Everly (born February 1, 1937) and Phillip Phil Everly (January 19, 1939 – January 3, 2014) were elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. While in Knoxville, the brothers caught the attention of family friend Chet Atkins, manager of RCA Victors studio in Nashville. The brothers became a duo and moved to Nashville.
