Remembering Joan Rivers I loved Joan Rivers and here is why! Not only did I see her in the neighborhood (she lived two blocks away), but I was fascinated by watching her of QVC selling her merchandise. Wow, tens of thousands of things at a time, but the most important reason I liked her goes back to the mid 80s. When the AIDS crisis was at its peak I was living in Los Angeles and involved with AIDS Project Los Angeles. I had a few friends that were ill and we were all raising money wherever we could. Joan used to give shows at the Backlot as fund raisers to benefit the AIDS organizations like APLA and Project Angel Food. She never gave up and gave of her time and energy to help all of us at a time when it was just becoming popular for the outside world to be involved. She was one of the first and I never thought she got enough recognition for all that she did. She gave of her time and money and gave people hope. I will miss her on QVC and Ill miss her on Fashion Police. I will miss her in the neighborhood. She was a legend and great Gal!
