Remembering Peter V. de Moya The DogSight Project and Fidelco lost - TopicsExpress

Remembering Peter V. de Moya The DogSight Project and Fidelco lost a long time friend and supporter last week. Peter V. de Moya was with the DogSight Project from the very beginning, encouraging, working and helping the project off to a good solid start. Peter was proud to say that in the early years, the DogSight Project was able to raise $20,000 a year. As the project matured, we were able to raise a steady $10,000 a year for the wonderful dogs of Fidelco. Peter rejuvenated the project in 2008 when he enlisted Ruby, the Fidelco Guide Dog to speak around the state on her journey to becoming a team mate with Lion Linda. Peter dubbed the program “Travels with Ruby” and travel is right! In 5 years, Peter, Ruby and Linda visited more than 50 clubs and venues, to groups of all sizes - the largest being over 250 people, the smallest under 10. Ruby visited Cub Scout Packs, New Hampshire Homemakers, school children and of course, Lions Clubs. No matter how far away the club, Peter was willing to drive Ruby to fulfill the DogSight Project mission of educating people about guide dogs and raising funds for Fidelco. Peter never tired of working for Lions, and the DogSight Project. He will be very dearly missed. This year, make a special donation to the DogSight Project in memory of Peter de Moya. He would have been the first to tell you that when you donate to the DogSight Project, you support New England’s only guide dog school and the work it does for all blind and visually impaired people. Donations may be sent to DSP Chair Linda Piekarski, 15 Edgewood Ave, Keene, NH 03431. Please make checks payable to LSHF with DSP in the memo line. The independence a guide dog brings to a blind person is priceless. Your contribution gives that gift many times over. Thank you!
