Reminder that the South Platte River and its feeders are running - TopicsExpress

Reminder that the South Platte River and its feeders are running very high and very fast right now. At this time, there are no closures of the South Platte River to recreational activities through Englewood, however, only very experienced kayakers should attempt to navigate the South Platte River. Tubers, waders, swimmers, those who cannot swim, and especially children should stay out of the South Platte River until the water levels recede. The fast water can create dangerous currents and undertows that can easily cause a person to lose his/her balance and fall into the water. Dangerous debris may also be loose in the water, increasing the chances of injury to people in or near the river. Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are strongly recommended for anyone participating in activities near or on the water. The water levels are expected to remain high and fast for the near future, and may remain high as long as heavy rains continue in the area. Please be extremely careful as you and your family members are around water this spring.
