Renew Your Heart How is it that we renew our hearts? A few - TopicsExpress

Renew Your Heart How is it that we renew our hearts? A few years ago, we began getting a monthly publication from Voice of the Martyrs. In reading about the persecuted church throughout the rest of the world and hearing the voices of Christians who have been imprisoned and tortured, whose families have been ostracized from their communities, and who continue, with glad hearts, to preach the good news to all who will listen, I have become acutely aware of how fortunate we are to be able to read, worship, and pray as we see fit in our country. You will notice I used the word fortunate rather than blessed. That is because I believe it may be our persecuted sisters in Christ who are truly blessed, blessed with a heart for God and the true presence of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, it is hard to differentiate between blessing and curse. When we let our ‘progress’ and ‘freedom’ dull our senses; we become blind to God’s miracles, deaf to His voice, and worship as we please without a thought of what might please God. We no longer use the term ‘fear of God’; For the most part, respect is no longer considered to be of value compared to freedom of speech. As women of Christ, we need to renew our hearts; we need to re-connect our hearts to God. In our baptism, we all are given a heart for God but it must be nurtured and fed with God’s holy word. In Romans 12, Paul writes, ’Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. As Christians we need to live in God’s word.
