[Renewable Energy] Solar Panels are going to be installed in Batug - TopicsExpress

[Renewable Energy] Solar Panels are going to be installed in Batug this week. Batug will be one of the first model of village wide class 2 system from Project Enkindle who believes in our work in using an ecovillage framework and approach. For us what does it really mean to have renewable energy? Is it about going back to the same way of life after Yolanda all over again? We hope to bring these critical issues to light before any installation takes place. Not easy for a rural community with a culture aspiring to have the same kind of way of life as Manila. Im glad I saw this article today. Ive studied about climate refugees while on a renewable energy campaign tour on the Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior as far back as 2005. My first smack into climate reality. Back then the word was on Vanuatu, a pacific island needing to move to New Zealand. This article came out in 2009. But 2015, thats next year. I think of the diaspora to nearby islands and cities that took place after Yolanda. I think of an indigenous community in Sagada concerned about their watersheds as 10 trees get chopped off per wind turbine to be planted near their valuable watersheds. How do we serve as lighthouses when we bring in transformation? treehugger/corporate-responsibility/first-official-climate-change-refugees-evacuate-their-island-homes-for-good.html
