Rep. Palazzo…It’s time to cut the party line! Although I’m a Democrat I’ve never voted the straight party ticket (in fact I’m against the whole concept.) For example I support State Senator Polk, while I don’t agree on every issue, he has always been responsive to all my inquires. On the other hand I can understand why many in the Republican Party are disillusioned with Representative Palazzo. You were elected to represent Mississippi in congress, well so far you have voted against the farm bill, aerospace and you are against medicaid expansion in MS all of which would benefit Mississippi. Ostensibly, because the food stamp portion (SNAP) of the farm bill would cost too much I sure you’re aware that farming is MS biggest industry. And that aerospace is also a large employer and that your district is one of the largest employer of medical personnel in the state and that Medicaid expansion would create about 6,000 jobs state wide! Mr. Palazzo have you seen the poverty rate in your state lately! The Republican Party has voted 37 times to vote down The Affordable Health Care Act or “Obama Care” (if you choose) your main contribution to congress seems to be to introduce a constitutional amendment to eliminate “Obama Care.” Einstein’s definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If you can’t repeal the act in congress do you really think a constitutional amendment is going to pass?! It’s really time you started doing the work of your constituents here in Mississippi! You practically took credit for the funds MS received from the BP oil spill while you did vote for it you had very little to do with the makeup of the bill. It came about because of the hard work bipartisan congressional committee, the various state legislatures, the various state coastal commissions, and such organizations as The Audubon Society. When it came to The Student Loan Bill before congress you sent out a blurb stating that the Democrats were holding up the passage of the bill, what you didn’t state was that the Democrats were against the variable rate proposal. Surely 6.5% is a high enough profit (it’s currently about 3.5%) do we really want our children paying 12% or more, even many Republicans have a hard time helping their children through college. Not to mention the vast amount of unforgivable debt the student has to repay. To sum up even as a Democrat I hope The Republican Party has a good candidate to run against, you in the primary. Mississippi needs a representative in congress willing to vote for its issues and not just follow the partyline. Joseph F. Moia Hattiesburg
