Reports Back from Palestine/Israel and Japan American Friends Service Committee Fundraiser Sunday, September 14 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Home of Mark and Pauline Solomon, 104 Oldham Rd. in Newton. Featured Speakers Angela Kelly and Sofia Wolman Angela Kelly, AFSC-PES committee co-clerk, recently returned from participating in the Health & Human Rights Project delegation to Israel/Palestine, where she visited community groups, clinics, refugee camps and activists to document the conditions, oppression, and trauma of life under occupation and to identify ways that U.S. activists can work in solidarity with locally-led efforts for peace, justice and healing. Sofia Wolman, who is rejoining AFSC’s staff as Disarmament Associate to build the mobilization for the 2015 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference, traveled to Japan to join the final weeks of the National Peace March to Hiroshima and to participate in the week-long World Conference against A- & H- bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. She will report on what she learned walking with Japanese activists across much of Japan and at the World Conference and about her work as Disarmament Associate. Paul Shannon and Joseph Gerson will also provide organizing updates about September’s Peoples Climate Change March, the NPT Review Organizing, and the NATO Counter-Summit held in early September in Wales.
