Reposting from the facebook page of Mr. John Lauron: I rarely share very personal things on Facebook but I am just really moved by the journal of one of my students in Dama Program wherein 2nd year students teach in a public school for two hours every week. Heres one of the journal entries that really moved me: ... I can now feel how hard a teachers life is. I can now feel how hard it is to compete with 50 students when I speak. Usually in school, I complain about the teachers giving us homework and quizzes and even make fun of them. Through this experience I saw why it hurts when no one listens to you as a teacher. Being a teacher for the first time made me feel like being a parent of sorts, teaching the kids like they were my children. It made me appreciate my teachers more and to give the respect that is dues to them. ... I learned how rewarding it is to be a teacher. All the time and effort spent for the childrens learning is all paid back fully when you see just one student who smiles at you, a silent way of saying he or she wants to learn more. Now I know why they say that to teach is a vocation and not a job. (Gab Castillo, A-2016)
