Requisition Number: 5573 Job Title: Patient Registrar Area of Interest: Administration City: Chula Vista State/Province: California Job Description: Greet, instruct, direct and schedule patients. Serve as liaison between patients and the physical therapy staff. Perform and follow through with clerical and secretarial activities inherent to the operations and needs of the department under the direction of the physical therapist. Work closely with the physical therapist to ensure efficiency and optimal delivery of services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous manner. • Answer and screen all incoming telephone calls. • Register patients both in a log-sheet and in the computer system. • Schedule patients for treatment appointments. • File charts alphabetically and numerically. • Prepare new patients medical charts with correct information and paperwork. • Pull charts of patients to be seen the following day and prepare supplemental status report. • Collate PT billing slips and reconcile with daily log. • Collate MD charge tickets and reconcile with charge ticket log. • Obtain authorization for treatment and enter information in computer system. • Utilize formal channels of communication to report concerns, personal requests and patient issues. • Respect patients right to privacy and confidentiality. • Maintain an orderly and professional working atmosphere. • Report to work properly dressed according to the approved dress code. • Adhere to guidelines concerning working hours and break periods. • Manage time effectively to complete all patient treatments assigned. • Adjust to quality assurance policies and procedures concerning all physical therapy issues. • Maintain equipment prepared for use at all times, in a clean and safe condition. • Demonstrate support to others by offering help. • Assist in the solution of problems as directed by Supervisor. • Maintain professional standards and procedures ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and Corporate policies and procedures. • Take all the necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Skill in using common office equipment, including computer keyboards. • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with patients, other staff and the general public. • Skill in collating and filing. • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and other staff. • Good telephone manners and etiquette. • Good oral and written communication skills in English. • Bilingual in Spanish preferred. • Detail orientation and organization. • Use of correct body mechanics. • Flexibility in working hours to handle variation in the inflow of patients and cover the needs of the department. EDUCATION High School Degree or GED. EXPERIENCE Previous experience as a receptionist in a medical setting preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION None LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
