Rescue at Castle Park last night on the Screaming Demon Ride: The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of malfunction of one of the roller coaster rides at the Castle Park Amusement center on 3500 Polk at 8:50 p.m. Engine 12 arrived on the scene and found four riders sitting in a car that was stopped on the roller coaster tracks about thirty feet high. The car was stuck, and thus it was necessary to use the aerial ladder to affect the rescue. The ladder was set at a gentle angle, and each person was escorted down the ladder by the Truck Company firefighter. Rescue 3 assisted the crews on the scene by providing high angle rescue expertise. Battalion 2, Engine 12, Truck 2 and Rescue 3 responded to the incident.
