Rescue high - These are the moments we have to focus on. I was driving away from the shelter and getting off the freeway in Chino Hills where I always look for Gus while I do errands. Off to the side I see Misty. This is a dog that has been missing for 10 days or so. When I first read about her missing my heart sank. She was lost close to where Gus was lost. I knew from the posts not to chase her so I took a photo and called John with his rescue. I grab all my dog gear, pull my car off with hazards, and head up to hike. She runs and I loose her but she had to be right there because there was all kinds of fencing. Thank goodness her former foster was a magnet and got her. Simply amazing. Here a sat on a hill with a freeway right behind us, petting the sweetest pit full of ticks, starving, thirsty, and so happy. I am meeting Elisha Gorman for the first time knowing she is one of those rare people in the world. No judgement, no telling me I am crazy. She has the same passion I do. This is what rescue is supposed to be about. Helping one another. I could have kept driving. I could have finished what was on my agenda. I could have made a lot of choices but we worked together as complete strangers on the same mission. Finding Misty was the highlight of my week. Not much can top that feeling.
