Rescued a little hummer last week. He was in the dirt at the bottom of the feeder. At first I thought he was taking a dirt bath but soon understood he was struggling to fly. I picked him up and dusted him off and got some sugar water in a tiny water bottle lid and for the next 44 mins. Held him in my hand, letting him have sugar water as he wanted. He fluttered his wings several times, I think trying to get his mojo back. After a few attempts at flight which ended on the porch, and a few more sips of sugar water he found his strength and off he went. I watched him for a few minutes until he mingled in with all the others at the feeders. I never thought about getting my phone to take his picture I was just concerned about him. What a thrill.. take your flight little guy.... take your flight....
