Research is still ongoing to determine exactly what the best treatment plan is for acute injuries. Yes, ice slows blood flow and lymphatic flow. It will therefore slow down the production of swelling but also the removal thereof. Yes, inflammation is normal and its the first step in healing. No, inflammation shouldnt be stopped since we then stop healing too. Yes, too much swelling isnt good for healing. Where is the middle ground? How do we lessen the swelling while promoting the nutrient supply to the area to aid healing? Is it all about using and loading the injured area as pain allows? Or is there some degree of ice/anti-inflammatory treatment needed? You all know the old RICE rule, below is a totally opposite opinion... hemanklerehab/ice-a-sprained-ankle-no/
