Residence Handyperson University of Cape Town - Cape Town, Western Cape RESIDENCE HANDYPERSON STAFF HOUSING AND ALL AFRICA HOUSE (Payclass 5) STUDENT HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS We are looking for motivated and organised persons with a student/customer centered approach for appointment as soon as possible. Student Housing & Residence Life primarily offers a living and learning experience to students in residences during the academic period. The Staff Housing Office is part of Student Housing and Residence Life and its main priority is to provide short to medium term family accomodation to newly appointed staff to the University from outside Cape Town. In addition Staff Housing provides accomodation to visiting academics and/or scholars (affiliated to a department at UCT) depending on availabilty for periods of six months. A handyperson service is provided in both All Africa House and Staff Housing area and this function focuses on minor maintenance within the building. Requirements include: Grade 10/relevant equivalent qualification or experience At least 3 years relevant technical experience (carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing and furniture repair) Effective reporting, organising and monitoring of assigned work Accuracy and attention to detail Good customer focus and interpersonal skills Sound verbal and written skills Responsibilities include: • Effective planning, co-ordinating, executing and monitoring of minor and planned maintenance at residence level • Accountability for handling and securing tools in compliance with maintenance standard operating procedures • Reporting and recording of operational maintenance issues • Perform inventory checks if and when required • Peform ad hoc functions if and when required The annual cost of employment for 2014, including benefits is R151 458 per annum.
