Residents of Morris are tired of reading these articles attempting to paint the Board of Finance in a bad light. The newspaper has exhausted that storyline again and again. And again. We would instead like to know about relevant issues pertaining to our town. How about the $200,000 shortfall, who caused it and why, whats the plan to correct for it? And how come the only person who bothered to bring it to the attention of the Board of Finance was the Tax Collector and not our CEO or the Tax Assesor who caused the error. Or how about the additional 96 man hours paid out to library staff--the Library Director claims it was for tasks that should be considered within the realm of normal job duties and the First Selectman apparently signed the checks for these special projects without any knowledge of what they were. The dramatically increased cost of healthcare for the newly unionized employees would be another area of interest for residents as would why the fiscal office refuses to provide financial statements to the Board of Finance. Residents might also find interesting the fact that there was a large piece of equiptment purchased for the Town Garage without utilizing the proper bidding policies set forth by the First Selectman herself. Or that bills were being applied to various department budgets in town without the departments knowledge or consent. Or, ...possibly the biggest issue facing the town: that the email server has allegedly been broken for two years, at least thats the excuse the Selectmans Office claims for why some business matters arent attended to and emails from certain people are constinuously and constantly ignored. These are the issues impacting the town of Morris, not whether or not somebody removed a piece of paper from a bulletin board and the ego trips surrounding that.
